Making a splash. . . literally.


Client: The TMV Group (Faygo)

This juicy image was created to celebrate Faygo Orange Soda's #1 Orange Pop award from Serious Eats. Our friends at TMV Group invited us to work on this image and said simply, "make it fun, exciting and refreshing. Focus on the brand, but really sell the orange flavor."

Working in our in-house studio, we set up a wet-set and went to work. There are many "splash" shooters in New York and Chicago, and even here in Detroit, that specialize in this type of work. It would typically take special laser triggers, high-speed strobes, food stylists and an army of assistants, art directors and retouchers to take a shot like this.

At Axis, our two-man team created this image with standard lighting and studio equipment and a minimum of retouching. The final image is a composite of three shots and was produced in a relatively short period of time. All things considered, we think this image stands up against the hot-shots (in or out of town).
